Amazingly spacious accommodation at a reasonable price for friends wanting single rooms. Set slightly away from the pub, the width of the road leading to the car park, which meant it was quiet. Rooms were large and light, well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, a sofa and table. I liked having the option of a bath as well as a shower. The pub had a huge selection of meals and specials, with people piling in for lunch and evening meal. What made it exceptional were the staff, in particular Daisy and Joe, who were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to do all they could for us - plates and cutlery in our room so I could surprise my friend with a birthday cake, allowing my friend to mix and match her evening meal choices, and provide a take away box for her dessert. I also liked the patio at the back which overlooked sheep and trees.

It's always reassuring when you get welcoming messages from hosts so I was very pleased when my expected arrival time was acknowledged really promptly. And it was a real pleasure to get such a warm welcome when I arrived - so much better than the corporates. Everyone I met there was just lovely! My room had everything I could wish for - comfy beds, air conditioning, a spacious bathroom and even a mini fridge with some chilled water. There's a very good (and very popular) restaurant on site and my evening meal and breakfast were top class. The location is a little bit outside of Thirsk but you can walk into town in around 20 minutes. It's also just off the A19 so there's easy access to the attractions of North Yorkshire and beyond.

Very handy location for our trip later towards Pickering. Being a pub it was nice to have meals available all day, we arrived late afternoon on a Sunday. Evening meal was nice, so was the breakfast the next day. Everything was good about the room, everything provided for a comfortable stay. Particular thanks to the very pleasant young man behind the bar who checked us in, served the drinks and took our food order, so too everyone else was so nice and friendly.

Perfect location for those travelling between Scotland and England. Welcoming to dogs. The stable rooms are just perfect. Very well priced for both accommodation and food. Rooms are clean, comfortable and whilst not luxurious more than adequate and very suited to furry guests. Staff are great, friendly and efficient.

Easy to find off the motorway as a stopover en route to Scotland. Lovely location with a nice river walk behind the property. Very good food, welcoming and friendly staff. Lovely terrace to sit out on the warm evening we were there. Our little unit in the separate building was great - had everything we needed.
